Taiwan's China dare
Article Abstract:
Taiwan has held elections which have resulted in a victory for Chen Shui-Bian as president, though China had not considered him to be an acceptable candidate. There would be major economic and political repercussions if serious conflict broke out between China and Taiwan. There is a need for negotiations between the two countries, but reunification is problematic because of the differences between them which appear to be widening.
