Article Abstract:
Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) for the alleviation of menopausal symptoms in middle-aged women is still controversial due to its alleged side effects. Depression, hot flushes, headaches, insomia, irritability and reduced libido and energy are some of the symptoms caused by declining oestrogen levels in women in their late forties to fifties. Therapy with animal hormone extracts were found to alleviate these in the 1960s, but research in the following decade indicated an accompanying risk of endometrial cancer. Studies by Dr. John Studd, a prominent researcher in the field show, however, that this risk disappears or even lessens with the concurrent use of progestogen, another hormone. HRT in its present dual form has also been found to increase life expectancy and to reduce the likelihood of osteoporosis and other menopausal discomforts such as painful sex, sagging breasts, wrinkles and hair loss.

A new age of medical treatment
Article Abstract:
The diagnostic industry is developing rapidly, and one example of its technology is genetic pattern printouts which can be generated in less than a week after receiving human cell specimens. Diagnostic technology is enabling doctors to make more refined diagnoses and to determine if individuals bear specific conditions. The technological advances in the industry may also enable patients to become less dependent on doctors and hospitals. One diagnosed, patients may even be able to monitor their own treatment and condition.
