Caught in the net: too early for customers?

Silicon Valley's value, and continued growth, as an industrial cluster may be undercut by the de-centralizing effect of the Internet. In addition, some of the Internet-based firms so beloved in the stock market surge may be too far in front of consumers to turn profits very soon.
