Industry developments
Article Abstract:
The British Steel industry body, BCSA, has progressed in a number of ways since it was created in 1906. The Association organised the production of 30,000 tonnes of prefabricated steelwork during the second world war. The National Structural Steelwork Specification for Building Construction was created by the Association in 1989 to help to standardise contractual arrangements within the industry. Steel has become increasingly popular since the 1950s, particularly since it is the preferred material for multi-storey building construction.
