Inside Blair's big tent
Article Abstract:
The British Millennium Dome project is not especially popular in Britain, and this could lead to criticisms of the government. There were a number of problems around the fesitivities such as long queues to enter the Dome, safety problems relating to a large ferris wheel, and fireworks meant to show the river Thames as a long fire that did not appear. The Dome was started by the previous government and continued by the Labor government, which could have decided to abandon it.

Flying blind?
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom prime minister, Tony Blair, is involved in two projects which have encountered problems. His agreement for peace in Northern Ireland lacked clarity on whether the Irish Republican Army should give up its weapons, and this issue has become an obstacle to Sinn Fein joining the cabinet of the Northern Irish assembly. The bombing of some targets in Serbia was thought likely to make Yugoslav president, Slobodan Milosevic, seek peace, and he has not done so. Blair has not mentioned the possibility of a change in tactics. Both projects could still succeed, and Blair has performed well in terms of domestic politics.

Undoing Britain
Article Abstract:
There have been a number of changes affecting Britain, such as the changing relationship with the European Union (EU) and devolution affecting nations and regions like Scotland and Wales. Constitutional reform is being carried out on a gradual basis by the Labor government, and change is likely to continue. There has been little interest in constitutional change, partly because the topic has never aroused the imagination, and because the full impact of the changes has yet to become apparent.
