Installed in Texas
Article Abstract:
Artist Donald Judd transformed a former army base and artillery sheds in Marfa, Texas, as an example of the close relationship between art and architecture. Judd renovated the buildings to provide areas to show art and as properties for artists-in-residence, he built also a library and a house for himself. Judd used the shell of some of the buildings whilst others he removed partition walls to simplify the space in order to show off the pieces of art displayed within them. Judd's work on the Chinati Foundation at Marfa began in 1971 which he continued until he died in 1994.
