Institutions run for cover
Article Abstract:
The number of institutional investors in Asia who are pursuing fund managers and treasury departments for products to handle their portfolio's currency risk is on the rise. Majority of the institutional investors seem to prefer the currency overlay over the other currency risk-management products. Currency overlays protect portfolios against the decline of currencies through hedging. Prior to the sharp falls in some Asian currencies, there were only few institutional investors in Asia who sought heding strategies.
