Asia on the frontier of growth
Article Abstract:
Asian countries will continue to experience economic growth in the coming years as they catch up with their much advanced neighbors like Singapore and Hongkong. Much of Asia's growth success is due to high resource mobilization and Asian economies' ability to combine abundant labor supply and high domestic savings with imported technologies. Analysts, however, predict that Asia may eventually come close to the frontier of economic development unless Asian countries invest in domestic research and development.

Private funds for Asia's development
Article Abstract:
The huge amount needed to finance Asian infrastructure projects present immense opportunities as well as risks to private-sector project financiers. Asia needs as much as $1.4 trillion between 1995 to 2004 to finance its various development projects. Private financiers, however, encounter dealing problems in Asia because of several factors such as red tape, uneconomical pricing due to the historical cross-subsidizations by most Asian governments on basic services, and political risks.

Asian economies have hit bottom
Article Abstract:
Asian economies have evidently reached their bottom lows and point towards an economic recovery in 1999. The rally of Asian stocks is associated with the dollar's sharp decline and the rate cuts made by the US Federal Reserve. Its bottoming out is associated with the stabilization of regional trade statistics. Although recovery may take several years to accomplish, countries such as Thailand and Korea have already made major improvements in their restructuring efforts.
