Possible legislation that would allow banks to branch across state lines has the insurance industry concerned. The banking and insurance industries have been battling ever since banks started selling insurance, and interstate branches could prove too competitive to independent insurance agents.

Insuring against terror

British firms are insisting that the government should pay for terrorist attacks since the bombings are politically motivated and the firms are no longer covered by insurance. The UK pays for damages from terrorism in Northern Ireland.
