Internet radio
Article Abstract:
Internet radio offers unlimited space and low overheads, so there is less need for advertising. Net radio can also be interactive. There has been strong progress, despite regulatory and other obstacles. There are start-ups which only have an existence on the Internet, and they include novel approaches such as Sonicnet, where music and animation are paired. There has been such a rapid development of this medium that there is uncertainty as to its future direction, and there are still problems to tackle, such as sound quality.

ERP RIP?
Article Abstract:
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) was seen as a major force during a large part of the 1990s, with companies operational parts brought together to function as a whole. The internet has changed the role of ERP, and has led to a decline in the popularity of stocks of ERP companies such as SAP. Customer relationship management and business intelligence are seen as key areas to develop in ERP, and Oracle aims to tackle these issues. ERP establishes the foundation for electronic business with automated processes.

The best-laid plans
Article Abstract:
European Internet stocks such as Freeserve have not performed as well as expected, while QXL has a lower value for its planned stock floation than expected. There are a number of barriers in Europe, such as illiquid capital markets and unwillingness to take risks. Funding is available from venture capitalists, and shared involvement in ventures allows companies to expand more rapidly, offsetting the reduction in the stake in the company, so the holding becomes more valuable.
