Murdoch bought 64% of Star TV for $500 million, although the three-year-old satellite television broadcasting company has yet to turn a profit. But Murdoch is betting on Asia's potential as a market. The economic growth of Asia has outpaced the rest of the world for the past 20 years.

Poor countries rich in wealthy people: Unilever in Asia
Article Abstract:
There are many affluent consumers in such Asian countries as Indonesia, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Singapore. Unilever, a maker of detergents, packaged foods and cosmetics, has found a lucrative market in these countries.
