US exports are growing despite gloomy forecasts of politicians. Politicians claim US competitiveness is fading, when in reality the trade deficit shrunk from $18.5 billion in last year to $17.5 billion in the first quarter of 1992. In 1986 the trade deficit was $152 billion.
