Is Europe corrupt?
Article Abstract:
There have been a number of corruption investigations in Europe, and governments have been brought down in Belgium and Britain, partly as a result of sleaze. Political and public conduct was thought to be more correct in northern Europe, but this notion is being challenged by events in Germany and Belgium. Turkey, Greece, the Balkans and eastern Europe have been affected by corruption, while Nordic countries are relatively free of corruption. Portugal, Spain and Italy have improved, though campaign funding is an important issue throughout Europe.

Cheer up, Europe
Article Abstract:
The European Union meeting held in Amsterdam, Netherlands resulted in more frustrated members than in tangible results but Europeans should look at the brighter side of the picture before concluding that Europe is not moving forward. The european market is getting freer and bigger, and the region is expanding to include former Eastern Bloc countries. Peace and stability begin to reign in the region and the future of monetary union is looking bright.

Topsy-turvy Europe
Article Abstract:
European countries seem to be imitating the worst political traits of their neighbors. Germany's use of subsidies rivals that of Italy, and the corrupt practices of the East German police are beginning to resemble those of the Italian Mafia.
