Is Sia Song crazy?
Article Abstract:
Thailand's stockbroker Song Vatcharasriroj's denial of his involvement in the takeover of government-controlled Mutual Fund Co and Bangkok Bank of Commerce (BBC) is not the end of the investment scandal. Song, who was believed to hold 11.7% of Mutual Fund and 17% of BBC, denied any interest in seizing listed companies. BBC Pres Krirkkiat Jalichandra and Mutual Fund's managing director Udom Vichayabhai also refuted any plans to sell their shares. The recent decline in the value of Mutual Fund's stocks and a 5% buy out of BBC's shares has, however, added a new dimension to the stock scandal.

Like a stone
Article Abstract:
Siam Cement, a blue-chip firm whose stock is offered on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), has lost 25% of its price thus far in 1993. This reflects the general trend of the SET index, which has fallen by approximately 15% since reaching a high in Jan 1993. The decline in stock price for Siam Cement is attributable to falling earnings due to its depreciation policy. However, the company's favorable cash flow is likely to make the stock a good buy in the long run.
