Is contagion a myth?
Article Abstract:
Financial contagion is a common expression which has been used in relation to the spread of the Asian financial crisis. The idea of contagion can make opening countries up to outside influences appear less attractive. Some countries are more vulnerable than others to external shocks due to bad policies. The less vulnerable may deserve help. There are issues of moral hazard that have to be tackled, but there is a case for seeking international solutions to this problem.

The Sep 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centre will have a huge impact on the art insurance sector and possibly on corporate art collecting. Hundreds of works of art were lost, and insurers will have to pay out millions of dollars.
