Article Abstract:
Sofresu claims that its Quick Pointing Device (QPD) enables personnel on a vessel's bridge to acquire the absolute or relative co-ordinates of a target in digital form. These coordinates can then be injected by the device into trackers, fire control systems or other shipboard facilities. The French company's QPD is comprised of a 1.3 kg hand-held sighting unit, containing three fiber-optic gyroscopes connected by 7.5m of cable to a processor.
