Italian digital-TV firms face a risky terrain
Article Abstract:
Digital TV companies in Italy are experiencing problems in providing digital TV services in Europe. Kirch Group and Bertelsmann AG first encountered problems after the European Commission decided to reject their proposed digital TV partnership. The move by the commission follows after receiving tips from Brussels, Belgium, that the alliance was aimed mainly to reduce costs involved in a digital launch. Italian industry experts believe that the commission's decision will lead to the development of a more costly new service.
