U.S. ad agencies in Japan stretch wings to win more market share
Article Abstract:
Advertising agencies based in the US and operating in Japan are taking a better edge over Japanese-based agencies following several years of being locked out of the market. Such is the case with Omnicom Group's BBDO Worldwide, which is taking over a Japanese agency, thus instantly becoming the eighth-largest ad agency in the nation. American ad agencies are becoming more favored as companies seek the creativity that is usually lacking in Japanese ad agencies, especially when businesses grapple to gain profit at the time of the Asian crisis.
