PG&E net slides despite gains at utility unit

Despite a 36% earnings increase at one of its subsidiaries, PG&E Corp. saw its third quarter net income drop 55% to $228 million. In addition, questions have arisen as to the the electric company's running of its Pacific Gas and Electric Co. utility. A report from the California Public Utilities Commission has criticized the utility for a fire at one of its substations in San Francisco.
