JAL's CEO to step down under board pressure

Toshiyuki Shinmachi, JAL of Japan is to step down as President and Chief Executive Officer in a management reshuffle. The airlines has experienced some safety mishaps whch has reduced customer support and market share. Haruka Nishimatsu has been appointed as Mr. Shinmachi's successor.

Virgin to purchase stake in Malaysian air carrier

Virgin Group Ltd. announced it will purchase a stake in Malaysia's start-up airline Fly Asian Xpress Sdn. Bhd., also known as FAX. Virgin Group declined to discuss the size or value of the stake. FAX intends to adapt the low-cost airline model to apply to long-haul flights.

Korean Air to buy 25 Boeing planes
