JTM TO TAKE Rs240-CR BRIDGE LOAN
Article Abstract:
JT Mobiles, a cellular operator in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, plans to avail of a bridge loan of Rs240 crore. It is waiting for a disbursal of Rs170 crore out of the Rs340 crore for which its has got a letter of intent from a consortium led by the Industrial Development Bank of India. The bridge loan may be used to pay a part of its licence fees. It has already made a licence fee payment of Rs409.85 crore out of a total fee of Rs716.95 crore. The company is a joint venture between United Telecom, Sanmar, Telia of Sweden, Jasmine International and ToT of Thailand. (khr)

FASCEL DROPS ECB PLAN, TO TAP DOMESTIC MARKET

Fascel Limited has called off its plans for a $120 million external commercial borrowing (ECB). It is planning to mobilise Rs500 crore in the domestic market. Fascel is a joint venture of Shinawatra of Thailand, Bezeq of Israel, Kotak Mahindra and the Hindujas. Its board has cleared the proposal to increase the equity from $100 million to $120 million. The Industrial Development Bank of India has sanctioned Rs250 crore and it will arrange for Rs250 crore loans from financial institutions. Fascel operates cellular services in Gujarat. (rk)

BT DROPS PLANS OF EXPANSION IN INDIAN CELL SECTOR

British Telecom has deferred its plans to expand in the domestic cellular sector for the time being. British Telecom had planned to acquire stakes in other circles but has decided against it as Indian promoters are asking for unrealistic premiums. British Telecom is still interested in the project to install regional hubs in collaboration with Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (khr)
