Jackson leads Shoppers account

TBWA/Chiat/Day's Elizabeth Jackson is taking charge of the high-profile Shoppers Drug Mart account at TBWA/Chiat/Day in Toronto, Ontario. Jackson will serve as group account director, a position that has been vacant since the departure of interim group head Gloria Floria in May 2000. Jackson has 20 years of experience in the advertising business with a background in pharmaceutical advertising. She joins Chiat from Grey Advertising where her client list included Procter and Gamble, SmithKline Beecham and Effem.

H&M/FCB raids rivals for new creative ads

Toronto-based advertising agency Harrod & Mirlin/FCB (H&M/FCB) has pirated from its competitors six new people for its creative department. Among them is Gary Westgate who will be the agency's associate creative director, the same position that he held while he was at Ammirati Puris. Ed Lea and Mary Secord, associate creative directors at Grey Advertising, have also joined H&M/FCB. The new hires replace an equal number of persons fired by H&M/FCB, including art directors Barry Shemel and James Jung.

Publicis Canada on hiring spree

Publicis Canada has doubled its size in the last three or four months due to the fast pace of its employee recruitment program. The ad agency's record hiring occurred after it won two big accounts - Microsoft Canada and CIBC. Among its recently hired executives are John Ozikizler, brand director for Microsoft Canada, vp and brand director Helena Lazar and group account director for the CIBC account Tracey Tobin.
