Japan's firms say business climate is better; despite recovery, companies plan to reduce their new investments
Article Abstract:
The tankan survey conducted by the Bank of Japan indicates that Japanese companies still plan to reduce new investments despite the improved economic climate. This finding is consistent with another survey that revealed that the economy is not likely to recover strongly even if it has already rebounded from the bottom. Observers say that the economy has no hopes of rebounding significantly until its structure changes which means reducing the high cost of doing business and eliminating excess capacity.
