Jordanian light rail project
Article Abstract:
Plans are underway to build a light rail system in Jordan to span from Amman to Zerqa. Railroad engineering companies Austria Rail Engineering and Padeco Corp. and Jarts from Japan have finished feasibility studies and the consulting firm Consolidated Consultants will conduct other ones. The government projects that the construction of the light rail will cost $39 million and that 40,000 people per day would use the rail system.

Railway privatization in the UK - has it worked?
Article Abstract:
There are many advantages and disadvantages to the UK's privatization of its railway system. For example, the railroad privatization has been beneficial in fiscal and political terms. However, economic issues such as the inefficient sale of assets, local authorities having to assume bridge liabilities, and increased regulatory costs shows that privatization is not always beneficial.

Regulator keeps UK Rail on track
Article Abstract:
The Rail Regulator John Swift QC has called for adjustments to be made to lower the access charges for passenger services which are to be franchised. He also called for a price control formula to be determined. Mr Swift wants to ensure that a strong profitable network is created along with improved efficiency and new commercial opportunities.
