KKR, CVC exit bidding on Coles Group

The withdrawal of CVC Asia Pacific Ltd. and Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Co. from the consortium that is attempting to buy Australian retail firm Coles Group Ltd. may mean that Wesfarmers Ltd., a rival bidder, may go forward unchallenged. Four other firms remain in the consortium, but further changes are as yet unannounced.

KKR withdraws bid for Britain's Safeway

Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Co. (KKR) has terminated its acquisition bid for Safeway PLC. KKR said that the acquisition was too risky. There are now only five potential buyers for Safeway remaining.
