KMR ONLINE LAUNCHED
Article Abstract:
The Mylai Karpagambal Information Systems Pvt Ltd (MKISPL) of Chennai has launched Internet services in Chennai called KMR Online. It offers 250 hours of surfing for Rs4,900 and 500 hours of surfing for Rs7,900. KMR Online currently has 100 subscribers on a trial basis. MKISPL has secured licence under category B. It plans to extend services to entire Tamil Nadu by September 1999. It also plans to offer value added services like roaming facility and credit card payments. Subscribers can access KMR Online from outside Chennai also. (um)(vr)

OBC, ZURICH INSURANCE LIKELY TO ENTER Rs 100-CR VENTURE
Article Abstract:
The Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) is negotiating with the Zurich Insurance Group (ZIG) of Switzerland for entering into the insurance sector. The proposed joint venture will have a capital of Rs100 crore. OBC plans to hold 76 percent stake in the joint venture. ZIG already has a joint venture with the CK Birla group in the insurance sector. ZIG may tie-up with OBC, since OBC has a large network of over 600 branches. OBC expects the joint venture to start offering dividend from the sixth year of operations. (ag)(vr)
