KSIIDC SEEKS STATE HELP OF Rs60 CR TO FUND NAPHTHA JV
Article Abstract:
The Karnataka State Industrial Investment and Development Corporation (KSIIDC) has asked the state government for a special budgetary allocation of Rs60 crore to invest in the equity capital of a proposed Rs4500 crore naphtha cracker project. The project, to be undertaken in collaboration with Videocon International, is to be set up at Kuthethur village near Udupi. The project is expected to have an equity capital of Rs1500 crore, with Videocon holding 40 percent and a foreign collaborator holding 40 percent. KSIIDC may take less than a 4 percent stake while public holding is to be 16-17 percent. (khr)

A Rs4,500 crore naphtha cracker project is to be set at Kuthethur village between Surathkal and Udupi in Karnataka. Work on the project will commence by mid 1999. Videocon International plans to acquire a 40 percent stake in the project while the foreign collaborator will acquire 40 percent stake. The Karnataka State Industrial Investment and Development Corporation (KSIIDC) is likely to acquire less than 4 percent stake. The balance 16-17 percent will be held by the public. (ag)

BPCL TO SET UP NAPHTHA PLANT IN TN
Article Abstract:
Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd plans to set up a Rs7000 crore, 1.8 million tonnes naphtha cracker in Tamil Nadu. It is negotiating with the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation for infrastructure support for the proposed project. The cracker project will manufacture olefin products like ethylene, propylene, LDPE and HDPE. A feasibility study for the project has been done by the Tata Strategic Management Group. (khr)
