Lynx SAR sharpens eyesight of UAVs
Article Abstract:
General Atomics has announced plans to start flight trials of its Lynx synthetic-aperture radar (SAR) aboard an I-GNAT unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in early 2/99. The company has also announced that it could start delivering Lynx SAR production units, with unit price ranging from $1-2 mil, in summer 1999. Lynx, which uses SAR technology from Sandia National Laboratories of the Department of Energy, has many possible applications including for the UAVs from the firm's own Aeronautical Systems division.

Enhanced jammer attacks new markets
Article Abstract:
Northrop Grumman is offering an improved version of the AN/ALQ-162 airborne electronic countermeasure system to potential customers in the Middle East, Europe and the US. Based on Shadowbox II, the system features an ability to jam pulse-Doppler radars to its baseline operation against continuous-wave types. Already, the company has received an order from the Royal Norwegian Air Force to supply the Enhanced ALQ-162(V) for installation on its F-16 fighters.
