Competition intensifies for truck training system
Article Abstract:
STN Atlas Elektronik and DaimlerChrysler Aerospace (Dasa)-Dornier are expected to deliver their respective truck driver training system prototype to the German Army in Apr 1999. The two firms, which were chosen to develop their separate systems in 1997, are competing for the right to supply about 67 training systems and about 200 driving simulators for the next ten years. The first of the driver training systems is expected to be available in late 2001.

Australian SAS receive modified patrol vehicles
Article Abstract:
WesTrac Equipment of Western Australia has delivered an initial batch of modified 6X6 Long Range Patrol Vehicles to the Australian Special Air Service Regiment (SASR). The reconnaissance vehicle, whose predecessor has been in service with the SASR since 1991, comes equipped with a 250cc motorcycle, a rear-mounted MAG-58 7.62mm general purpose machine gun, a front-mounted 5.56/7.62mm machine gun and a ring-mounted M2QCB heavy machine gun.
