Karnataka: India's high-tech Eden
Article Abstract:
Since the 1950s the Indian state of Karntaka has been earmarked as an area for scientific development which has now become an important region for new technology in India. Foreign investment has been encouraged both by central and local government with good telecommunications, guaranteed power supplies and a ready supply of workers. The state of Karnataka is the dominant region in India for the manufacturer of electronics and the computer software industry. A better transport system is planned as well as a new development area specifically designated to cater for foreign companies.

Boston: east coast upstart
Article Abstract:
The city of Boston has for many years had a strong reputation for academic achievement, especially at Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. This has in turn led to the city becoming a key location for software companies, taking over the role which for many years has been played by California. There is a strong trend among software and high-tech companies in the city towards accelerated growth, with ideas now becoming a commercial reality very rapidly.

New marketing ideas have revolutionized the used car industry in Detroit, Michigan resulting in increased sales to 18.5 million which is nearly 4 million more than new car sales. Used car dealers are using computer technology as well as making their showrooms more accessible for the whole family offering refreshments and play areas. In contrast the new car industry is facing a decline as less cars are sold and reduction in profit margins is resulting in fewer dealerships.
