Why it's worth cracking China
Article Abstract:
The private sector is beginning to play a key role in economic and business development in China. This means that opportunities are now beginning to emerge for foreign investors. However, foreign concerns will in the medium-term still have to deal with state-owned trading concerns and central and local government organisations. The UK is the largest European investor in China, but many UK companies are still failing to take advantage of the opportunities offered by China and of the wide range of expert advice which is now available.

Resolutions for a momentous year
Article Abstract:
The general election in the UK, single currency in the European Union (EU), the EU Social Chapter and education are all seen as major areas for decision during 1997. The single currency question it is claimed would restrict economic freedom. The end of the UK's opt-out of the Social Chapter may result in extra labour costs, with the result that unemployment may rise and competitiveness would be restricted. The resolution of major problems within the education system, would be seen to enable 1997 to be a momentous year
