Korean banks seen heading for new crisis: full meltdown of financial sector would demand a government bailout

South Korean banks are seen as headed for another crisis as waves of corporate bankruptcies and widespread unemployment continue to weaken banks. Stephen Marvin of Ssangyong investment and Securities predicts that the crisis would lead to a nationalization of the banking system as banks may require government funds to remain running. Foreign investors have refrained from leaving but the burden of heavy corporate debt will sure be felt by Korean banks.
