Kuoni drops First Choice merger offer
Article Abstract:
Kuoni Travel Holding AG announced that it would withdraw its bid to acquire First Choice Holidays PLC. The decision by Kuoni to withdraw opens to door to Airtours PLC to acquire First Choice, the third-largest tour operator in Great Britain. Only 30% of First Choice stockholders accepted Kuoni's offer. This prompted the Swiss company to allow its bid to expire. Airtours is the second-largest travel group in the UK.
