Kuoni's merger with First Choice goes down to wire
Article Abstract:
It initially appeared that First Choice Holidays PLC's stockholders would turn down a merger bid from Kuoni Travel Holding AG. The bid was scheduled to expire on July 8, 1999. However, Thomas Cook Group Ltd. changed its stance. Thomas Cook owns 10% of First Choice. Kuoni made a bid to give stockholders in First Choice a 47% share in the merged entity. If investors decline to respond to the bid, then it could mean that Airtours PLC will make a renewed offer.
