LATEST ESTIMATES PEG INDIA's '98-99 COFFEE CROP AT 230,500 T
Article Abstract:
The Coffee Board estimates coffee production to decline to 230,500 tonnes in 1998-99 against earlier estimates of 242,400 tonnes (228,000 tonnes in 1997-98). The 4.9 percent decline in estimates is attributed to delayed rains. The heavy droppings expected in June-July 1998 due to high temperatures and monsoon rains will reduce coffee crop to less than 228,000 tonnes. The Arabia crop is estimated at 100,040 tonnes against the earlier estimates of 109,300 tonnes. The Robusta crop is estimated around 130,460 tonnes against earlier estimates of 133,100 tonnes. (pc)
