LG INDIA SIGNS ON CRICKETING GREATS TO HIT WORLD CUP TARGET
Article Abstract:
LG Electronics India Limited (LGIL) has entered into contract with the three former leading Indian cricketers for its forthcoming Cricket World Cup promotional campaign. The three cricketers are Mr Madan Lal, Mr Mohinder Amarnath and Mr Roger Binny. They have been selected on the basis of their performance in the 1983 World Cup. The promotional campaign known as the LG Champion Gallery is scheduled to begin on April 1, 1999. The campaign will also include a contest for consumers and dealers. The winners of the contest will be announced by the first week of May 1999. The winners will be allowed to visit the World Cup matches along with leading cricketers. LGIL will bear all the expenses of the trip. LGIL plans to spend Rs8 crore for the World Cup promotional campaign. The campaign will run both in the print and audio-visual media till June 30, 1999. CERC TO LICENSE HIGH-VOLTAGE TRANSMISSION SECTOR PROJECTS
Article Abstract:
The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has been given the authority to issue licences to private companies who wish to enter the high-voltage transmission sector. It will issue licences based on the recommendations of the PowerGrid Corporation of India Ltd. The private companies will be permitted to set up high-voltage double circuit transmission links across the country. CERC will decide upon the transmission/wheeling tariff slabs, which will be detailed in the final tariff regulations which are currently under preparation. (khr)
