LUPIN GETTING INTO 2 CEPH BULK MOLECULES
Article Abstract:
Lupin Laboratories plans to launch 2 oral cephalosporins in India in February 1999. It plans to export the 2 cephalosporins to USA through its joint venture - CEPH. Cefixime will be produced in February 1999 and ceftibuten in March 1999. Cefixime, a product of Fujisawa, is going off patent in 2002 AD. Ceftibuten, a product of Schering Plough, is going off patent in 2005 AD. Lupin Laboratories has developed the 2 products at its facility at Mandideep. Their commercial production will start at the Ankleshwar plant, which has the approval of the US Food and Drug Administration. It expects to earn Rs30 crore in 3 years in India. Cephalosporins account for 55 percent of the total exports of Lupin Laboratories at Rs110 crore. (rk) (kvr)

INFAR RIDING ON PARENT AKZO, LAUNCHES NEW BRANDS

Infar (India) Limited (IIL), Calcutta plans to launch a number of new pharmaceutical products in India. ILL is the Rs100 crore Indian subsidiary of the $12 billion Akzo Nobel of Netherlands. Initially IIL will launch, Akzo's popular gynaecological brands like Femilon, Recagon and Pregno Card. IIL also plans to launch its gastro intestinal drugs in India. A new Rs50 crore manufacturing facility is to be set up at Calcutta to produce formulations. Currently, IIL operates two factories at Calcutta and at Mehsan in Gujarat. (gsh)

IPCA LAUNCHES LARITHER FOR FALCIPARUM MALARIA

Ipca Laboratories has introduced Larither capsules and injections for falciparum malaria disease. Larither is a formulation of arthemeter, an antimalarial bulk drug made from a Chinese plant.
