Landing will be hard

Article Abstract:

Aero Vodochody (AV) (Odolena Voda, Czech Republic), aircraft manufacturer, has a chance to survive in case of mass exports, which have been stagnating. The promises of Boeing (US), which were given during the firm's entrance to AV in 1998, have been broken. Boeing set up the joint venture Boeing Ceska (BC) (Czech Republic) with Ceske aerolinie (CSA) (Czech Republic) during its entrance to AV. BC holds a 35% stake in AV in 2001. The remaining stake is held by the state through the National Property Fund of the Czech Republic and the state bank Konsolidacni banka (Czech Republic). AV's cumulative loss has exceeded CEK 8 bil and its prospect is not good. AV saw a positive economic result of nearly CEK 500 mil in 2000, for the first time after a long-term period. AV's economy resulted in red numbers during the last few years.

Czech inhabitants saved nearly 4 lt of water per day in 2000

Article Abstract:

Czech Republic: Daily water consumption per inhabitant was 169.1 lt in 2000, nearly 4 lt less compared to 172.9 lt in 1999. The volume of water produced from public water mains was about 777.6 mil cu mt in 2000, nearly 3% less compared to 1999. Czech water consumption has been decreasing since 1991. The situation should change in 2003 or 2004.
