Scotland's Conservative Party captured 25.7% of the vote in the Apr 1992 general election, resulting in a net gain of one seat in Parliament. Scottish secretary Ian Lang is credited with a stunning success, as his unionist party was expected to lose ground to the Scottish Nationalist Party.
