Last men standing
Article Abstract:
Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines all sought to set up regional business hubs, but only Singapore and Hong Kong have achieved credibility in this role. Problems with local stock markets and economies have undermined a number of projects. Singapore is catching up with Hong Kong, which still remains ahead in terms of where corporate headquarters are located. Hong Kong is benefiting from the relative economic stability of China and Taiwan, as well as its own economy, and has a lead in a number of areas such as fund management and venture capital.
