Down, but not out of hope
Article Abstract:
There has been a drop in output in many developing countries which has affected health, education and life expectancy. Sub-Saharan Africa has been hit by AIDS, high infant mortality rates, lack of access to clean water, and school enrolment levels are low. Poverty affects people outside Africa, such as in Eastern Europe, and the gap between rich and poor is widening. Debt relief would help some countries, and there is a move for the International Monetary Fund to sell gold to fund a debt relief program.
