Legal & General growth strategy stires some doubts
Article Abstract:
Legal & General Group PLC posted a 31% increase in new business in the UK for the initial nine months ending 1998 despite doubts of the long-term benefits of the cost-reduction strategies that propelled that business in the short term. Analysts believe that life insurance products such as index-tracking tools, personal equity plans, and term assurance need to contend with a slowing market. Legal & General should be careful to maintain its market share despite its apparently successful strategy since the market is moving toward lower margin products.
