Australian food-distribution company, Frontier Foods' executive Samir Kumar's endeavors to develop China's imported-cheese market are analyzed. Despite a very low production of cheese in China, due to the rapid growth of western-style supermarkets and fast-food chains Chinese consumers are showing an unprecedented liking for imported cheese.

The effect of lifting the World Trade organization quotas on the companies investing in China is discussed. The high wage costs in China could leave an opening for garment industries in other countries to survive even after quotas have been lifted. It is concluded that China will still draw business if it can work out prices effectively.
