Levi's to close four plants in Europe, trim work force in U.S. by nearly 1,000
Article Abstract:
Levi Strauss & Co. of San Francisco, CA, intends to trim its US laborforce by almost 1,000 positions as it shuts down four European manufacturing facilities that will eliminate around 20% of its European workforce. The jeans manufacturer is currently attempting to restructure its operations into more brand-driven lines after seeing its share of the market of young brand-conscious consumers reduced recently. Levi Strauss plans to concentrate on specific consumer categories by strengthening its creative staff throughout the world.
