Life under a new body
Article Abstract:
The Chinese insurance industry will undergo great changes in the late 1990s and beyond as a state-run system becomes privatized. The Insurance Regulatory Commission will manage the conversion. Chinese officials announced the state-owned People's Insurance Company of China will be reorganized to produce three private businesses to serve the life insurance, property insurance, and reinsurance sectors. The industry restructuring presents great economic opportunities for foreign investors. Chinese business persons are modeling their marketing plans after successful foreign organizations such as the American International Group.
