Lloyds TSB indicates a desire for merger; operating profit up
Article Abstract:
Lloyds TSB Group PLC has indicated that it is seeking to merge with another firm. The bank posted a 14% increase in underlying profits for the 1998 year. Executives with Lloyds TSB believe that the conditions are right for just about any size of acquisition. However, the executives said that they preferred to make an acquisition near its home base in the UK. Lloyds TSB is the largest bank in Europe, based on market capitalization.
