Novartis to pay Infinity to develop cancer treatments

Novartis AG of Switzerland has an agreement with Infinity Pharmaceuticals of the United States to finance pharmaceutical development for cancer treatments. Infinity Pharmaceuticals will receive $30 million in financing upfront for research, licensing fees and an equity investment. Total financing from Novartis AG could reach $400 million if particular goals are met.

CA reports 64% decline in profit

CA Inc. of the United States posted a 64 percent drop in first quarter net profit to $35 million although revenue rose 3 percent to $956 million from $927 million last year.
