Green belts for Wales
Article Abstract:
A proposal that Wales should create green belt areas has met with a mixed reaction. If created they should stress quality and be permanent, and be part of the whole development process. Smaller areas, or 'wedges' could serve the same purpose. It is felt that more research needs to be done and alternatives should be considered before a decision is taken.

Rural communities: how are they changing and why does it matter?
Article Abstract:
The 1991 census results showed that rural areas are growing in popularity. Improved transport and communication links have led to this, as has the preference expressed by many people to live in the country. Improvements can be made by local councils providing more services. Changes in the EC farm policy also mean less support for agriculture.
