Snezka (Nachod, Czech Republic), bag, knapsack and automotive headrest manufacturer, saw a profit of CEK 13.3 mil in 2000. Its depreciations for new technology were CEK 8.5 mil in 2000. It is said that the firm is making 27,000 headrests per day currently and should be producing 30,000 pieces at the end of 2001. The firm's turnover from headrests is CEK 40 mil per month. Snezka was able to double its productivity of labour and increased its exports by 2,000% during the second half of the 1990's, due to its orientation to production for the automotive industry. The firm also manufactures luxury suitcases, bags and knapsacks. It employs over 450 persons in the sector. Snezka has been working for Samsonite (Belgium) since 1990.

It manufactures pockets and other storage equipment for car boots, mainly for the automotive company Skoda Auto (Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic). Mikra's products are also demanded in Germany. Opel has shown an interest in Mikra's products. Recently Mikra bought a building for CEK 5 bil, having rented it before.

PAL International increases its proceeds

PAL International (Prague, Czech Republic), automotive component manufacturer, increased its proceeds by nearly 31% in 2000 compared to 1999. Exports represented 66.3% of the 2000 proceeds. The firm's productivity of labour increases by nearly 20% per year. In 2001 the firm is launching new products, mainly for its new consumers Volvo and Teves. A new sector of the firm's products includes motors for ABS systems.
