The world's largest airline caterer LSG Sky Chefs has acquired a 60% stake in Gastro Primo, a Hong Kong-based company that produces high quality, processed food and supplies imported gourmet products to the airline and tourism industries. To meet growing demand, Gastro Primo is planning to open a modern, HACCP implemented food processing plant in 1999, which will increase variety and quality by utilising the latest technology and packaging techniques. *

China Star to make $19.5m placement

China Star Entertainment is placing 50 mn new shares with Thakral Corporation (HK), a distributor of home entertainment equipment and other consumer electronic products. The shares are priced at 40 cents each. Distacom Hong Kong will raise its stake in Mandarin Communications's Sunday network from 20% to 60% by paying HK$300 mn to four existing shareholders. Each shareholders' stake in Sunday will be cut by half. Lai Sun Development and USI Holdings each will hold 15% stake in Sunday.
